New (to me) 2012 X5M
Hello All. I know some of these questions have been answered individually, but trying to get the best bang for my buck in one post.
I just sold my 2008 Audi S8 and pick up my 2012 X5M this week. Gonna need some upgrades and advice on such. I am open to anything, but of course I gotta get the wife's co-sign 'cause things get pricey This is my order of preference. 1) Exhaust: Recommendations welcome, however wondering if anyone is running the Fabspeed exhaust and what you think? I had Milltek on the S8 and love a good sounding exhaust. 2) Tune: best tune for the money? (who doesn't want more performance?) 3) Wheels: I am thinking of having a local Phoenix shop professionally add some black to the stock wheels (tastefully done), but looking for recommendations for the best for the money and look, as well recommended size for the X5M. I like the more common X6M wheels than the X5M stock wheels so I can go OEM 20's, but I like the 22's out there from BBS too. 4) LED bright white Angel Eyes? I can't believe the 2012 still had "soft white" daytime running lights, but that is fixable from what I have seen. 5) Anyone running cold air intakes or recommended upgraded air filters? That is all I can think of for now. I am open to anything other recs you have. Thanks for the advice/info in advance. This is my first BMW. It is a hard break from being an Audi enthusiast, but needed the SUV for the family and love the performance of the X5M. I may just become a BMW enthusiast Thanks, ~Matthew |

Congrats. I used to have an RS4 wil miltek, sounded great.
For a tune, I have the velos and like it a lot. I have the LUX H8 160 angel eyes and like them a lot too. Good luck with the mods. If you're somewhere you can get away with it, Catless downpipes give you great performance and sound. Might be worth trying before a cat-back. |

Hi there, welcome to the club
To be brief:
1) Don't do it: downpipes first. All the sound u could ever want 2) I am happy with Velos too. 3) I hate black wheels, sorry. If u insist on changing the OEM wheels, then BBS 4) Lux H 8 5) U don't need a cold air intake on a turbocharged car, not much difference. ENJOY!

What size wheels are those on your 2013? Those are the wheels I want. Hope to find a set on eBay or craigslist. I don't want to go crazy, just don't like the 2012 stock 20" wheels. Thanks.

Search youtube for video clips. I really doubt you'll find anything that will make the S63 sound as good as your S8 did, so you'll want to be very picky with whatever you end up doing. I think the S63 sounds best stock. Everything aftermarket amplifies the dissonant sound waves produced by the crossover exhaust manifolds...IMO of course.
The best wheels you can put on these (I'm biased) are the HRE 940RL |

You're quite welcome!
Mine came with the 20 inch style 300s stock. I think they look great and are absolutely vibration-free and noiseless. Beware of imitations and replicas on Ebay... putting cheap reps on a 500+ horsepower machine is a no-no....
Again I cannot overemphasize how much difference downpipes will make on your car, sound-wise and performance-wise. Search and find my thread on this issue!

2) You said best tune for the money, that's easy go with Eurocharge or Activeauto werks. Both are excellent and half the price of velos. Then down pipes.
