Very nice! I wanted to get a set from ebay as well but wasn't sure if it's good for the airflow since it's all covered up.

You are not getting an error most likely because whoever did you installation coded error out of the FRM (controlling module). You can actually disable hold and hot check for any light in the vehicle through FRM (footwell) control module.

Hey I just installed the same DRLs on my X6 and they look awesome! Had to pull of the whole front bar and bit of work running wires etc. but it was worth it. Have you had any issues with the solid mesh blocking air intake to side mount intercooler? Any overheating problems? I drilled about 20 holes in the covered mesh to promote a bit of airflow but it is nowhere near enough compared to stock fog light cover. Also, there are no errors with this DRL set as they come with control box for each fog light. Will post a new thread about my installation.

Just an FYI, on the 50i, the intercooler radiators are behind that panel - one each side, so best allow some airflow.

Hello

I have just bought similar to this

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-...637610945.html

For my BMW X6 40d 2011 year model.

I was thinking that it would be just plug and play but it is not. Those ballast that you see are only resistors connected to fog lights connector so that they dont generate error codes when cornering (fog lights used as cornering light). Thats so stupid. I would like to use this DRL lights as fog lights so I can have them on or off when I want to + use cornering ability.

If i'm going to do that I would need some modifications i.e. just connecting the led strip light itself ON the H11 dummy fog-light ballast thus taking the power from fog-light source while the resistor does the job of tricking car to think that H11 bulbs are on.

Is there anyone else who has solved it that way?

I like it, looks OEM too. Also a great safety feature.

Just a quick update on the lights. I've had them installed for quite some time and haven't had any issues in regards to overheating etc. But since Im a paranoid person and I got fixated on the idea that perhaps the lack of airflow could potentially be robbing performance, I went ahead and drilled some holes.

As you can see from the pics, a substantial amount of plastic was removed, i basically drilled a hole in every diamond shaped section, being extremely careful to not drill past the plastic.

For anyone that may have the same concern, took me 15 minutes and a drill.

L.E.D.'s do not create heat like halogens so overheating wouldn't be a problem. On the code error I would say that the L.E.D.'s draw far less power and that is why you are getting an error code. The car thinks the bulbs are burned out or malfunctioning because it's not drawing the preset required current Perhaps installing resistors may do the trick.
