Loving my new x5m
i just purchased an 2010 x5m Monte Carlo Blue with 30000. I have been researching the vehicle for over 2 months. This forum has been awesome. A few call outs (Mcraig, M3 guy,Wally M5, Orange Fever, Jim "the man" Shorts, JupiterBMW, Windtendo, akashyap, Omar, and everyone else) Great DYI and knowledge shared.
My first upgrades are gonna be weather tech mats, IND ext, 3m/xpel clear bra, and a tune. (leaning towards Velos... Maybe Omar will be running a special soon) I'm thinking of getting the injectors changed. I'm currently not having hard startups. However there is some black residue on the exhaust pipes. I know this is a big cost and i took it in to consideration when purchasing this 2010 with no warranty. (thanks to all of you) What are your thoughts? Thanks again in advance. |

Congrats! I just bought a 2012 that is currently in transit from California...anxiously awaiting it's arrival
Have you looked into getting an extended warranty? Might be worth the cost for piece of mind, especially if you want to have injectors replaced. |

Congrats man, she's a beauty!
As for the injectors, I'd definitely consider getting them done (hopefully thru an extended warranty). Think of it this way, you paid a premium for an M but you may or may not be getting the most out of your M's engine if you are running the older injectors. |

Thanks for all the kind words!!!
The truck is awesome. I thought about an extended warranty but after reading reviews on all of the aftermarket companies none sounded very reliable. Does anyone on here have any recommendations? Otherwise i will just invest that money into getting the injectors replaced. |

Congrats on the X5M. I am in the same boat as you, just purchased a 2010 X5m about a month ago. Absolutely love the car, but everything they say about owning an out of warranty BMW is coming true. Just got the CEL warning me of reduced power output and took it into the dealership. Turns out the vent hoses as part of the ventilation system needs to be replaced at about 2k. In addition may have to replace the injectors as they are throwing error codes but not definite as the hoses may have caused the errors.
All of this was expected as I did a lot of research before I decided to purchase an out of warranty BMW. However, my only complaint is with BMWNA. I'm sure you've heard about the 'Customer Care Package (aka recall)' out there for the N63 engine which is the same base for the S63 engine in the M version. I don't understand how BMWNA is not extending that campaign to the M versions. Maybe they will in the future, but it certainly does not help now. As stated, repairs were expected but disappointed in BMWNA. Otherwise, I am love the car. Good luck with yours! |
