Wheels for X5d
I just purchased an X5d for my wife and looking to swap out the stock rims for a set of 20" Y spoke Matte Black wheels, the specs are 20X9.5 FRONT AND 20X10.5 REAR. Can I just mount these or do I need to have spacers installed ect? Just wanted to make sure before I make the purchase. Anyone else have issues with crazy amounts of brake dust? I have a 2013 550 and its no where near as bad as the X5. Thanks everyone in advance.

My 550 wheels stay clean a long time compared to my wife's X5d. I use Armor All wheel protectant and the X5 wheels stay clean for about a week. I know you are going to do it anyway . . but . . I would not switch to 20's. More wear, more expense, more issues, more weight = worse handling & harsher ride. Does it look better? Most people would say yes but I don't agree, especially when you install black wheels. OTH, black wheels are perfect to conceal brake dust

In the same boat got a new x5 d 18" stock wheels , love the Y spoke but don't want the hassle.. And fender flare additions.
Had 20" in my last SUV spit rocks all over the sides.. No thanks |

So if I get new wheels do I need to add Fender Flares? I agree with you guys on the "hassle" part of dealing with a set of nice rims, especially because my wife will be driving it for the most part and she loves to find curbs!! But I figured a set of black or Matte color Y spokes would be an easy swap. Is there more that I need to deal with besides praying she doesn't bang them up?

I hated the look of the OEM 18" they were skinny and weak looking.
I originally didn't have flares on it I added flares after

This looks great! I am looking to do the same with my 2011 Diesel, but wondered if I could put the color matching flares you see on the M trucks? Any info appreciated.

I can't see why they wouldn't fit? If not the standard ones could be painted. I also changed out my running boards to rocker panels I wish I would have painted them all first. If its not on a black truck I would paint them for sure.
