Maybe I am trolling but.....

This is something that's been bugging me and feel free to call me a troll. I really am hoping this is not the case though, lol.

I have looked at the new X5 and I really have not found a single able where I prefer this car to the E70 from the outside. From the inside the new X5 is definitely better. Iro performance I have driven the X5 35i/d with no DHP and I think it goes without saying that the E70 drives better and I am not even talking about the electric steering, just how confidently you can take curves and at what speed. Then there is the new X5d that's now doing a quarter at 86mph, that's Honda civic territory.

When the time comes, in about 2 years I will most certainly step up to the F15 or the X6 since my kids will probably be out of car seats. However I was wondering if I am just a troll at this stage, lol. I feel I may be half a troll since if I were a full troll I would have posted this in the F15 section

I don't think you're being a troll - nothing wrong with not liking a certain vehicle, though you did conclude your post that you'd still be getting one

I agree with you on the new F15 - the interior is much nicer & more modern than the E70's, but I'm not much for the exterior…really just the front end. Though that gripe is not F15 specific, I'm personally not a big fan of the front end on any of the latest BMW designs.

86 in the 1/4, is that right? Our friends have a 2014 X35D which I took for a quick spin and it had a ton of power, certainly enough to swat away a Civic.

Yeah trap speed dropped from as high as 90 for the E70 to 86 for the F15. I guess I could always go 35i.

To be honest I am not sure what I will get after 2 years but I am not ruling the F15 out

I'd have to agree that the new exterior design, especially the front end, is a deal breaker for me at this point. I just got my X5M and I'll be keeping it until it no longer makes to keep it.

Most of the time, people say you have sour grapes when saying a newer model doesn't look as good as yours. However, in this case, I absolutely agree. While the interior may overall be better, the exterior definitely is missing character lines. The E70 has clear character lines that make it a strong design. The new X5, especially from the side, is extremely boring. I honestly don't know what I would get in another few years, but it definitely won't be the new X5. Perhaps a Cayenne...

while design and styling is completely personal opinion, I also dislike the new X5's exterior design, just doesn't look good or aggressive. Seems like many here thinks that the new interior is better, but i don't see anything that great about it, the design is still just so so. The updated idrive is the only thing that really appealed to me. One thing that I do like about the F15 is that BMW has finally figured out to incorporate a bottle holder in the door bin. But that's about the only pluses in my eyes, and the cool looking new key

+1

This is why I traded my 11 for a 13 last year.

The second I saw my dad's new F15, my E70 immediately looked ten years older.

I am also not a fan of the F15. No question the interior is amazing. I think the E70 looks and drives more aggressively. It also has that sporty feel and character you expect from a BMW.
