I read somewhere ( don't remember) that you could trick the suspension into thinking it was out of whack and the rear suspension would adjust to compensate thereby lowering the rear. I would have this done professionally if you are going to do it.

dmlgc, I think that would only work on the 50i (at least in NA), as the 35i does not have the self leveling rear suspension.

I agree, I wouldn't touch that myself...

Actually, if you really want to make it technical, it is an air suspension type of setup. They call it:

Self-levelling with pneumatic rear suspension

However, as far as I know, only the electronic has control over it. In other words, you can't control how high you want the rear to be yourself!

It figures out how much suspension is left and adjusts the pneumatic spring assembly (Item number 1) accordingly. Item number 2 is the compressor/valve assembly.

I wouldn't do it at all, BMW is "clamping down on unauthorized modifications and in some cases will void warranties". Learned this in a phone call I had with them about tuning.

+1

I revoke any warranties I give to my customers if I find out they messed with equipment they bought from me that I design and build!

I wish BMW will apply what Vw already does on the Touareg . that is, adjust the back (and THE FRONT) suspension, from a knob, in the middle console, between the front seats.

MB and I think Porsche has that too... We'll see, maybe one of these days, BMW will catch up...

Check with bmw service about "intergrated chassis management" to see if overriding the air suspension alters the adaptive drive.
would be interested in what they have to say.

h&r lowering module.
You may want to ask H&R if lowering the car via their 'module' will have any negative impact on the cars handling. Remember that the cars electronic and mechanics are tuned to the factory stock springs and ride height and by changing the springs will also change the way the car handles or calculates certain measures it takes (especially all the safety features)!
