Mud and Snow?

I watched one of the review videos of an X6 in the mud and snow. It got stuck and another 4WD vehicle just drove right past it.
I thought the X6 had Xdrive which makes it suitable for snow driving.
Anyone have any experience driving in snowy conditions? What has been your experience?

I think it is great, but it is 50% tires, IMO. Crappy tires can kill you. You want an M+S rated tire for snow.

It got stuck because it's the most pointless vehicle in the world. Duh.

Some people just have intermittent verbal diarrhea

OP, if you're really interested seeing X6 offroading, i suggest you watch couple of videos from this person.
They had some fun driving RR, X6 and Toyota trough some snow/sand hills
It should give you some idea of X6 capabilities

You have to keep in mind that the X6M comes with extreme summer tires and have huge rear tires. Run the right tires for the activity and the X6M will do great. Only limitation will be available angle of attack front and rear due to the road/track driving focus..........Steve

It doesnt make much difference which version of X6 you run
As long as it has apropriate tires for the task with square setup (i'd preffer 275 all around) it'll do fine

P.S. No one expects X6 to hang out in RR territory, but it is definetelly as capable as most SUVs these days and better then some

Thanks for the input

Looks like I will get some serious snow tires for winter. I don't do a lot of driving in the snow but enough that I'd rather be prepared.

The all seasons will do just fine in the winter*
The 20" summers will leave you stranded - BAD.

*Snow tires will do even better - but it depends on your weather. Snow tires are normally much worse than all seasons in the fall/spring and really only do better on snow/ice. So if you live somewhere like Chicago, you are often better off in the winter with an all season. Got this info from Nokian and sure enough C&D or someone posted tests and I was shocked at how bad snow tires are in the dry!

Dry is not an issue if you get Nokian WRG2 SUV
These are the only winter tires that do very well in wet/dry

I'm getting these for this winter

http://www.nokiantires.com/tyre?id=1...=Nokian%20WRG2 SUV

P.S. I'd rather have real performance in the summer and safer winter. Not some A/S compromise all year long, that dont do any good in any season

Right - except that Nokian used to call that an All Season Tire Now that they have "summer" tires, they call it a Winter tire - but not a snow tire. The point is the same, the WRGs will do MUCH better in the Fall/Winter/Spring than a pure snow tire.

Whatever it's used to be called, it's better than any winter performance tire
It may not be as good as some ice/snow blizzaks, but very close
Now add this to great cornering/dry/wet performance
It's a perfect tire for X6 IMO

I never got stuck once this last winter in NY. We had 2 storms with 20"+. Both times I made it to work pre-plowing.

I don't understand how the car is pointless. It sits 5 people, great looking (especially modded ones), sits high and heavy but can take sharp curves at high speed. I took my x6 once in the twisties and I was blown away by the handling. Seriously, it almost drives like a small car.

Haters are gonna hate

I dont think there is a point to explain this to people
Some just need to either grow up or drive one
Let's just enjoy this amazing driving machine, while we're taking kids/friends and lots of cargo load in style

After all, BMW did not expect to see twice as much in sale numbers
This one is a hot cake!
