Anti-Bling!

Okay, the 22's are finally installed and the the exterior mods are complete.

We used 22x10 Liquid Metal 2pc. Mesh, with color matched outers and machined and clear coated centers. I really think 22's look right on the X6, and I love the lack of bling!

THANKS!

We have been afflicted with "black car lover's syndrome" for many years. The X6 replaces a Black Audi Q7 that replaced a black Volvo XC90, and we still have a black Maserati Quattroporte and a black H-D FLHX. The real problem is that we are extremely obsessive-compulsive about clean cars, and keeping black vehicles perfect in Arizona is a NIGHTMARE!! Anyway, we needed some relief, so it was either white or silver this time.

No matter the color, my design tastes run to the monochromatic, so that's why pretty much everything that can be silver is!

What are your wheel and tire size? Is it staggered? I also believe you have the 30mm lowered H&R springs, correct?

I believe it is more than 30mm, more likely to be at least 50mm or more.

I wasn't happy with the staggered tire options, so the wheels are 22x10 with 285/35r22 Michelin Diamaris on all four corners. I did have the wheels built with integrated spacers that push the rear wheels out to where the OE 20x11's sat. The spacers were built to bolt-on to all four wheels, so the tires can still be rotated.

The springs are 30mm H&R. Here's my thread about them:

Nice job!

That's the first 22" setup I really like. No ghetto look here, all class.

The wheels are the right size for this car and with the spring kit the big gaps are finally filled with a balanced look.

The X6 is a tough unit to get right and you did a great job.

NICE! I like the lack of bling, too. The drop sets the wheels off very, very well.

We, too, are afflicted with the need for black.
-carbon black e46 M3
-Sapphire black X5 4.6is
-Sapphire black Z4 M roadster
-Azurite black e92 M3
-Sapphire black X6M........

(I feel your pain, LOL).

Nice to see more people adhering to the "less is more" theory......

Silver is a great color for x6.
Matches the silver/chrome bar on the rear light clusters & silver kidney grills & running boards.
Monochromatic makes car look long & aerodynamic.
Great job.

Jeez, Bear you are holding up BMW singlehandedly!

Hahaha.... not by choice... my wife bleeds BMW as much as I do, and her income is almost identical to mine. We're fortunate, no doubt. I think we work pretty hard, but more and more, we are starting to live by the idiom "you only go around once".

It 's nothing compared to a friend in our local BMW club. In the past TWO YEARS (that I am aware of):
-X5M
-e92 m3
-e92 m3 'vert
-e92 m3
-e92 m3
-135i
-135i
-e70 X5
-650i

All fully loaded. I don't think he keeps his cars for more than 3000 MILES. (And no, that is not a typo - he has purchased FOUR M3s in the past two years).

And I'm not finished. In that same TWO YEARS:

-MB SL550
-MB SLK AMG55
-Audi TT
-Audi TTS
-Audi S5
-Lexus IS-F
-Ford F-150 Raptor

And the list goes on..... I only know him as an acquaintance, so there are other cars.....

He has traded cars in, after seven to nine DAYS!!! In a couple of cases, he then bought the cars he traded in BACK, taking a kick in the goolies each time - not only in terms of trade-in, but on the buy-back, too. I honestly think that single-handedly, he accounts for about 5% of our BMW dealers sales. It gets that way when you keep your cars for a week only, LOL.

Yikes.

My wife and I are but noobs, in comparison. Why doesn't he buy and exotic (or five ). No idea. He was talking about a Bentley Continental, at one stage.

I just never seem to be in the right place at the right time when he is selling his cars.....

Great job. The wheels are very tasteful and not overdone in any way. The drop & paint detail works well. Why didn't you do a 3pc wheel so you could stay staggard and do the big ass tires in the rear?

I didn't need to do three-piece because the rim section that I needed was available in a single unit. Two piece are just as light as three, and can't ever have the same leak issues that you sometimes get with a three-piece. Also, there's absolutely no aesthetic difference between the two.

As far as the "big ass tires" are concerned, I couldn't find a matching set that I liked in a 22" rim diameter. I can also rotate because I stayed with the same setup all the way around. Not as cool looking from the rear, but surprisingly enough it really doesn't bother me.

There must be something he does, in order to move from one vehicle to another

I know a few people like that, but he usally gets demos or lease take overs in order to change his vehicles.
