X5M rotors and pads?
Does anyone have a good hookup on OEM X5M rotors and pads?
best I have found is $1900 installed.... My rotors on my X5M are beginning to show a lipped edge, but the vehicle still brakes very well... (it's the squeak that is really annoying). Do I just need pads and sensors or is it time for a full brake job? |

If the rotors are showing wear, they probably need to be replaced or at the minimum resurfaced. They will need to be checked to see what their thickness is though. That is the key, what the rotor thickness is will determine if they need to be replaced.

Not much savings but ECS has them for $ 1745, and free shipping.

EBC makes a solid rotor that I think is about $250 for the pair (Fronts) and then another $200 for some carbotech performance pads. Beats anything BMW makes.
Centric also makes a rotor (They also own Stoptech and PowerSlot) but I can't find accurate pricing on their rotor, but it shows up as <$100 each... Then you can get whatever pads you want. Sounds like you're getting raped at a dealer, and paying dealer prices? |

Seems like most of the parts sites put the parts at around 1700-1800. Your 1900 is dealer installed? I'd say the 100 is worth it to not deal with the hassle and discarding old parts!

Unfortunately time and convenience often take precedence over scouring around for the best price. After reviewing my options with the shop, I have decided to let them do the entire job with OEM stuff they can get today. The total cost including labor will be around $2000.... this takes a chunk out of the money I had allocated for new shoes, but at least I'll have a piece of mind knowing that I will not have to deal with brakes again for quite awhile.

Shame, brakes are typically done in under an hour at least in my garage... I on;y get stuck on rear brake drums that are stuck to the hubs... I save my friends and family thousands of dollars doing their brakes. This kind of work is where shops make much of their money(margin)

Correct, $1900.00 installed if you need to replace everything is a excellent price.
