Ok Video In Motion !!

Ok, here it is:

http://kufatec.com/index.php?main_pa...x&cPath=89_120

Looks like it is plug and play too. A matter of installing the module behind dash or wherever, no big deal, no wire cutting.

My new X6 5.0 is on order (1st week of Dec delivery I hope), and I plan on checking this module out.

I coresponded by e-mail with the company and they said it would make the front screen run dvd's in motion.

There are also other options to by modules allowing aux input for sound and video as well so you can add ipod video/movies, etc.

Trust me I will solve it when my vehicle arrives. The iDrive system is not hard to hack it seems.

I have done nav/video in motion in my 2008 Escalade with a plug and play module, & it worked fine.

I will also be bumping up the stereo with some type of compact subwoofer add on with a class D amp. The premium sound is OK, but inherently weak in the low end. Nice to keep stock integration when possible.

Some people object to doing video in motion as it is illegal, but ya know what, I don't wear my seatbelt always either, and I crack a beer or two in the car on occasion as well. So those who want to piss and whine about not doing it can save it for their tree hugger, AA meetings, etc.

To each his own!

I forgot to add this, it will show out of stock as they have to special order these, so call or e-mail them and they can clarify this. I was told it by e-mail it can be ordered and it should not take too long.

Nice find, mate. Would it be possible to see you installation DIY pics? That would be more awesomeness. Thanks in advance.

My 5.0 may be here by next week now as it's out of production, super fast, like only 2 - 3 weeks from my ordering it!.

Anyway, I will be doing more research to find even more solutions as I really want ipod video & movies, pictures to the front screen, not just disc loaded dvd's (who wants to burn anything nowadays),

I'll post my findings, installs, & pictures once I get everything figured out.

no dvd changer

Will I be able to watch video too? I don't have DVD changer, but I do have navigation and USB input. I don't know if I can watch video even in the park from usb key or navigation DVD.

Most likely you wont be able to do usb video at all, the likely option for portable media will be an auxillery input module in conjunction with the video in motion module (or one that will do both).

In this way you would be adding ipod video/sound through a breakout cable setup.

I will get to the bottom of the idrive system and premuim sound and post what I come up with. But first I need my X6!

Awesome Find Scotty. Keep us all posted on the ease of installation and plug and play ability. If all works, I'll get one on order for my X5.

update: they are telling me it has not been tested with the new idrive for 2010, now it may or may not work but I am trying to deal direct with germany where it is made.

sucks.... they provide no installation info until you buy it, i need to know how much of a pia this will be install, at a minimum you probably have to take the radio head unit out to install the module

I received a cryptic message from germany saying that it was not tested for a 2010:

KUFATEC Support Team

Martin Brettschneider

KUFATEC GmbH
Dahlienstr. 15

"We have never done the fitting on an 2010 X6. We do not offer the item for your vehicle sorry."

Now does this mean they just never tried it or the fitting (module plugin) is completely different you tell me??

I think it means it does not work on the new iDrive.

2-3 weeks only? I hope they put it together correctly. LOL. Gl. I wish they were built in Germany.
