How many VW Betrayers will we have??

I'm just curious how many people will be leaving VW for this car. I know i have been seriously considering it. and ive seen quite a few names ive seen over on vortex and golfmkv. glad to know im not the only one. Right now i have a stg II MK5 GTI with alot of work done to it, shes been featured in driver gear mag as well as competed in a few auto crosses and track days. it is DSG and i miss a manual, as well as being tired of not being able to put the power to the ground with FWD. those are my reasons for switching when the time comes as well as loving Turbos, and hell if its got 2 all the more reason to love it!:roundel:

and just because im a picture whore here she is again

Yep, I've got a 25th AE Golf GTI (your version of a 20th AE).. although I haven't decided whether I'm keeping it in addition to the tii or leaving the VW fold for a while yet.

Having had them since passing my test it's hard to let go. I started with a 66 ragtop Bug, then had various Golf GTIs and an A3 before my current ride and am a regular on www.uk-mkivs.net

Main reasons:

Golf & A3 are being replaced late next year and it takes another good 12-18 months for the decent models to follow. I thought about a TT coupe, but the lack of 2.0T/4wd version along with useless back seats put pay to that. The new Scirocco is the only thing that might make me reconsider...

I saw the tii concept and went to the dealers the next day and sat there until they took a deposit off me for one.

No worries, they had to go up the ladder in BMW to see if they could take a deposit on something that didn't technically exist - but they eventually said yes and confirmed it will be out next summer/fall

Hi there,

i have got a MK V GTI, too(2005). But not much work on it, it only has Bilstein PSS9 and some OZ Supertourismo wheels.
Looked for something rawer and hope to find this in the 135i....

The 135i will replace my 20th, if I can bring myself to sell it.

I betrayed VW last year when I bought my 330i.

The new GTI and Jetta GLI are very nice packages, though. They handle amazingly considering they are front-wheel drive. And the 2.0T turbo four-cylinder is very V6-like but with far superior fuel economy!

And the prices are very reasonable for the level of features and sportiness. Great bangs for the buck!

For the second year in a row, VW has lowered the ride height (by 0.6 of an inch) for the 2008 GTI. This makes handling even more nimble. In case anyone is interested, I'm the owner and editor for this VW site: http://www.VolksWatch.com

Yep! I currently drive a '04 Jetta 1.8T with some light mods and eventhough I have no complaints about it, the 135i has my attention :roundel:

Mike and I have had almost identical MkIV 25th Anniversaries - and I have already left the VW fold. I'm not missing the VW experience as this car is in another league.

Yup, My MKIV R32 will be finding a new owner in March. I love the R32, but it's time to upgrade. I put a deposit down on the R about 13 months in advance of them getting to the USA, and I've been one of the original owners 2/9/04 was when i took delivery. As great as the 135 is, I have a feeling Im really going to miss the growl of the R32s VR6. Not much out there that sounds that damn good.
