I too recommend CPO but if OP plans to own this X5 for the long run, CPO doesn't last forever

Also, have you driven a 50i? If you're buying used they aren't that much more $, and it's a big upgrade in performance. Gas mileage is only slightly worse (both are bad IMO). Just something to think about before pulling the trigger. We were all set to buy a 35i…until we drove a 50i… Just my .02. Good luck - they are great vehicle regardless of what year/model you buy |

I don't think there is too much to worry about on the LCI models. Before you buy the vehicle, just make certain all required maintenance has been done on it. The dealership will be able to tell you what was repaired under warranty.

I don't pretend to know anything about the Canadian spec X5's but I'd be surprised if they were different than US spec models? The only 2011 US spec models with LED coronas were later build diesel models. Run the VIN….any gas model built late March 2011 or later will have the LED coronas, but they'll be 2012 model year vehicles. The 2011 diesel's were built until summer 2011…those should be the only 2011's with LED coronas. |

Have you thought about the sport model, or the M Sport version? It gives the X5 a much beefier look with 20" wheels and fender flares. |

You should go drive both and then decide which one to search for. |

That's what I'm going to do. If the mpg is close to one another the 50i sounds better, in terms of reliability compared to the 35i which one has more problems? I plan to keep it for a long time.

You can update your halogen coronas to LEDs in 15 minutes and $30-$100 depending on the look you want. There are many options on Ebay. Don't let that be part of any decision.

http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=990050 Sure, you can install LED bulbs in a halogen corona setup, but you'll never replicate a 2012+ OEM LED corona setup doing that, regardless of what bulb you install. |

They will NEVER look as good as the real deal. Frankly, most aftermarket LED options will looks worse than what's in there now.
