How to Check a Tire Pressure Sensor for a Wheel Off the Car

Hi Folks. I bought a used set of winter wheels/tires that are approximately 5 to 6 years old. How can I check to see if the tire pressure sensors still work BEFORE I put the wheels/tires on my X5?

Take them to a tire place--they should have a device that can verify the signal.

Also, for tires that are 5+ to 6+ years old, they are considered "aged" and no longer safe to use.

Yeah. The tires have like-new tread on them, so I'm not worried about the "degraded"/aged aspect of the rubber. I've always felt that was a "manufactured" concern...created by tire manufacturers. Otherwise, if true, most of the tires on Chicago cars would have long blown out by now!
