After purchasing the wheels - tires from Jurrian (**********s), and the fenders from BMW of Newton, and also after sending my wife with a friend in the Caribbean, decided to give some love back to my Sapphire Black 2010 X5, that was used by the original owner as a point A to B vehicule.
Started by unmounting the wheels to prep and paint the calipers black (no powder coating, since I plan to change them to X5M takeoffs), that was Saturday. On Sunday, prepped the paint to a 3-step Menzerna compound + paint sealant. It was late when I've finished the job, and was a little tired this morning when I took a couple of pictures. Next weekend, I'll clean it up once more for the 2nd coat of sealant, then prep the inner fenders, dress up the tires and polish the wheels. So bad that I didn't have and aggressive enough pad (only had Lake Country Orange), still has some deeper marks, next spring ! Last edited by 335i_4D; 09-24-2012 at 10:28 PM.. |

Thanks for the comments !
For the sealant, I use Menzerna Power Lock Polymer sealant. When I've used the Orange, then White pad on some sections, it came out almost opaque black. The paint was badly oxidized.

Doesn't look too bad. Did a good job.
You got to remember, black is hard to please. You kinda have to beg it to be beautiful. |

315/35R20 R Thanks for the nice comments. It's not my 1st black (previous Mazda 5, BMW X1, and my daughter's Chevy Aveo), but this one required more in-deep cut than the other ones.
