Rusty ignition coils
Today I took my 2011 X5 35i to my local BMW dealer for the Vanos recall and the 60k inspection.
They found all my brake pads at 4mm and needing replacement and 4 of 6 ignition coils were rusty!! all of which isn't covered by the CPO. I told them I'll take care of the brakes but I questioned why the rusty coils wouldn't be warranty as there must be a defective seal on the coil. They initally said "No the seal is fine" I said that the only way for water to enter the coil tubes would be from the top therefore the seal must be bad unless the BMW factory put rusty coils in during production... My SA said maybe I'll ask the SM what he thinks, I get a call back and while not admitting that the coil seal is defective they decided that they would replace the rusty coils under warranty... So to close, kudos to BMW Tucson for good customer service and specifically Marcella Arns and the Service Manager.. screen shot on windows Last edited by firecapt; 12-10-2014 at 08:00 AM.. |
