2009 BMW X5 with P2063 and P2064
Hi guys,
First time posting here in the X5 forum, happy owner of a 2005 335D and X5-35D. Sadly both cars have the CEL on, the 335D seems to have a bunk glow plug module. I am a more concerned about the X5, this past Friday the CEL turned on, I scanned it with my OBD-2 tool and the codes P2063 and P2064 popped up. I have done some searching and really haven't found much. The X has about 75,000 miles on it and runs just fine. There has been no diminished performace that I can feel. Can anyone chime in? Thanks, Marco Last edited by nobrakese28; 03-29-2016 at 11:23 AM.. |

So I asked my buddy if he could look up the codes in AllData, this is what he came up with.
Looks like the SCR valve is either dead or disconnected. -Marco FAULT CODE: 47F9 - P2063 FAULT TEXT: REDUCING AGENT METERING VALVE, ACTIVATION: NEGATIVE SIDE, SHORT TO EARTH FAULT DESCRIPTION: THE DDE RECOGNIZES SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND ERROR IN THE OUTPUT STAGE: METERING MODULE. FAULT CODE: 4C7C - P2064 FAULT TEXT: REDUCING AGENT METERING VALVE, ACTIVATION: POSITIVE SIDE, SHORT TO CIRCUIT TO POSITIVE. FAULT DESCRIPTION: THE DDE RECOGNIZES SHORT CIRCUIT TO POSITIVE IN THE OUTPUT STAGE: SCR METERING MODULE. |

So I think I will have to also replace my SCR valve. I read the link on xbimmers.com Wanted to know how long it took you to do it and if you removed the lower shield under the vehicle.

Its fairly an easy job.It took me around 15~30 mins but most of the time spent on the clamp that holds the SCR injector/valve to the exhaust.I didn't want to break anything but it turned out to be very easy. After undoing the clamp screw, just spread the clamp and scr injector will come out.

Nope, you can get to it without removing the full splash shield IIRC

How do you remove the DEF Injector? I know that there is a screw that requires an Allen wrench. How do you remove the electrical wirings? And how do you remove the other hose?
Please provide as much details as you can. Thanks! Last edited by BMW_Diesel_Owner; 01-23-2018 at 08:16 AM.. |

I successfully replaced the DEF Injector (BOSCH Diesel Emissions Fluid Injector/Metering Unit -- Part # 18307807206) and resolved the P2063/P2064 errors.
Thanks to those who pitched in and provided invaluable insights and advice! Last edited by BMW_Diesel_Owner; 01-23-2018 at 08:34 AM.. |
