extreme unlucky misfortune on dunlop sportmaxx rft tires
So like everything else i usually dont buy extended warranties.
for the first time I regret not buying the extended tire protection. The price of these monstrous tires aint cheap. bringing it to the dealership = new tire i've done this twice in a month then it got so expensive i had no option but to plug it. Over the past 6 months of owning this vehicle since about august i have had nothing but troubles on the road. i have replaced both rear tires from nails and plugged my rear right twice. some are small nails or screws and others are industrial size as if they fell off a truck. has anyone else had such bad experiences with these tires? i've gone years without a punctured tire before and in this vehicle with the sport package tires its like nails to glue on the road. I'm in the tri-state NY/NJ also looking for alternative tire recommendations, i checked tirerack but they do not seem to offer insurance protection on these tires. Called Geico and they do not offer it either, BMW wont sell tire insurance after the fact, i tried twice and begged. |

Had the same issue, they seem to be a nail attractant. More nails in the last 3 years on two X6's than any other cars in the past. Once they are worn down I'll be back to regular tires, hence the purchase of the spare tire on my 2013 X6!

Hey, i noticed you are from NYC, will the x6 fit the x5m tires. I am getting rid of them pretty much close to nothing. Might be able to help you out if they fit. The tires are pretty much new with 90% thread.

Staggered/ fronts are 275/40-20 rears are 315/35-20 Glad i'm not alone on this, these tires are pretty sweet but as i mentioned somehow have an ability to suck debris particularly screws/nails and eat them. |

Do you have Discount Tire around there? You can purchase tire protection from them after the fact on the tires that are already on your car.
I had this on my todo list after getting my X6 and procrastinated until I finally got a nail in one of my tires. It was irreparable. I had them replace that one, then I got tire protection all around. I've had two incidents since then. They had to replace one tire and they fixed the other. Bad news is that they don't stock my tires. Good news is that my commute is only 2.5mi/day and there is an Exxon on the way. |

Hi Doomdizzle (and others in the NYC area),
I am thinking about getting the X6 with the staggered 275/40R20 and 315/35R20. Other than the nail/screw issues you mentioned, have you had any bubble or blowouts with these low-profile tires? I'm concerned about the nasty potholes in our area simply destroying any low-profile tire. Thanks, Rich |
