Unhappy CIC update and bluetooth connectivity

i have recently bought a 2012 X5 E70 XDrive E35i
multimedia: mx-003.004.0031
telephone: Tx-003.004.0031

using a iphone 14 and iphone 11

i have tried to connect to the bluetooth i was unable to(it kind of connects and i could hear calls but no spotify music and it doesnt register my name saved in the registry/contacts).
After some searching it turns out that i am on an old software update and i should update
i go on the bmw website to download the latest update and after inputting my vin code it says unavailable please try again

so i search these forums to find some fix/update that i could use to fix my issue
and all i could find was UPD01008. i was unable to install it onto my car because it said (software on usb device not up-to-date. for info bmw.com/update)
now i suspect this might be a flash drive issue but i wont be able rule out that issue until i get another small flash drive tommorow that works well with fat32.

or this issue could be because the update UPD01008 is actually(not up-to-date) and i am not able to find the latest update.

what should i do please?

I have the same issue, bought a new 64GB usb and formatted it. Tried to update the software but I still getting the same "software on usb device not up-to-date. for info bmw.com/update" message. I saw another thread which mentioned that it might work using the usb connection in the glove box, however mine only has one usb connection in the center console. I'm not sure how another usb connection would work, they are surely all arriving at the same device.

Use the USB in the globe box.

If no luck, go to an BMW programming specialist with BMW software.

Armrest USB is the correct location.

This is really odd and seems to be happening more and more lately. I'll try to run the update again when I get home later and see whatine says.

Tried a few different USB sticks (2 GB), all formatted FAT32, added UDP05074.bin file, nothing on USB except the file. Plugged into center console (no usb in glove box), turned on ignition. "software on usb device not up-to-date. for info bmw.com/update".

That's the idea... You're updating the software on the combox which is directly connected to the USB port in the armrest. The port in the glovebox goes to the head unit.

I plugged mine in today and it says the same as the rest of yours, however I am already at the newest revisions. I could roll back revisions but I'm afraid I won't be able to update again.

I wonder if somehow BMW pushed an OTA update which is locking us out? But that seems odd since the telematics service runs on 3G and isn't functioning anymore.

Someone might need to call BMW NA and ask what's up.

pistolslapper what is UDP05074? The latest .bin that I'm aware of is UDP01008.

Those are definitely outdated. UDP01008 is MX-003.005.006 and TX-003.005.008

¡
It's the only one suggested when I enter my vin.
I only have the car a couple of weeks, current version on mine is
MN-002.017.007
TN-002.017.007

Can you share UDP01008?
Could there be any issue with that release being installed?
I assume I can always restore back to the current one I have.

The screen tells you clearly that the update needs to be in the audio usb interface. Thats in the center console. I have this issue too. It’s definitely reading the usb and seeing the file because when you remove the usb the screen changes from “software on usb….” to something like ‘insert usb with update’.
