Looks like it for sure. They just brought it back with the 6-series Sport Package and it was available on the previous X5 4.6si.

Best "M" color in my opinion. Looks Stunning.

"The M3 Sedan draws the lion's share of its mechanicals with the M3 Coupe. It also shares a number of body parts -- the nose of the M3 coupe is grafted directly onto the M3 Sedan. This in its own right separates the M3 from 'normal' 3 Series sedans.

Like the coupe, most of the changes happen under the skin, however -- way under. The body benefits from the same sort of beefing up around the suspension mounting points as the coupe, and (a la M3 coupe) the sedan's suspension shares just one single component with the donor 3 Series four door -- the rear track control arm. Most components are fashioned using aluminium."
The coupe and sedan are the same to keep costs down, the only real difference in a coupe and sedan in the front has been cosmetics, nothing suspension wise is really all that different. So they designed one front end for both this time around.

The components they are talking is just meant to show that the M3 (in any form) does not share anything but 1 part from the non-///M version. The 1 Series also shares many of the components from the E90/92.

It is interesting how they designed these cars to maximize the ability to share components and keep costs down. Still wish they could have done a CF roof on the sedan but that was too costly.

Are you suggesting you might mistake this for an M3?

lol

Or saying you wont be able to tell the difference between X5 M and X6 M?

I bet they are doing it, like they did the M3, to keep costs down...

Lets guess at base MSRP...

$64,750 (Base 4.8i is $56,200)

Generally on SUVs cross-drilled brakes are not used because there is a greater chance of debris (pebbles) getting caught in the holes. Of course, I doubt any of these trucks will be going off-road...

i think the beauty of these two vehicles is going to lie in the amazing amounts of torque the engines will produce. i'm not convinced that BMW will stick to the 4.4L displacement (someone please confirm). i don't doubt that BMW will increase displacement (4.6L, 4.8L).

Now, considering these engines will probably be in the next gen M5 & M6... i want to see those beauties soon!

I believe that all of the changes that you guys are mentioning will take effect on the production model. Test mules aren't optioned the way the production model will be..

Base has to be over 70k. The old 4.8 is was over 70 with any options. I would think 79,990 for the x5 at least.

As for the X6 it will start at about 88900 I bet. I have an X6 35i on the lot for 72,000 and that is not even an 8 cyl. The 8 with a lot of options is well over 80k. The X6m may even start at 90k at least.

Right, but you don't automatically get "all of the options" when you get an ///M.

Believe it or not, but an ///M3 can be had with cloth-like seating...

I'm sticking with my $64,750 base for the x5, I'll go $72,750 on the x6, why anyone would pay more for an x6 is beyond me. The x5 M has the great looking front of the x6 but with a normal body and rear-end of the x5. Best of both worlds IMO.
