F85 X5M DCT Style Gear Selector Retrofit

Anyone interested in this retrofit?

This would be swapping the DCT M shifter from the F85.

I've got the part coming and will be attempting ... if anyone is interested I can try and document the process because I'm sure it is going to be fun.

I'd be interested just for the novelty of it. I really wish we could put a built up DCT in these cars though.

Good luck with the retrofit. I'm not sure I see enough difference for me to order the parts, but I am sure this community would appreciate if you documented the process for the swap.

I'm semi-interested depending on the price of the part.
Can you post a pic of the new shifter when you get it in?

Is R a physical location for the shifter?

I've never dealt with the new Auto-8 shifter before but my E46 M3 with the SMG would go left and up for Reverse, the diagram on the pictured shifter looks like the same concept.

I'm interested to see if you're able to swing the retrofit.

Good luck! I'm subscribed.

Yes this works identical to the DCT style transmission shifter ... only it is not a DCT transmission.

Part came in and this is not a simple plug and play retrofit ... which I assumed the case anyway.

I still haven't been able to source the wiring diagrams but have determined the F15/F85 share the same connection type with the exception of what seem to be 2 additional wires going into the F85 from photo references I've found online.

Next step is to source some wiring ... I will need additional E70 wiring and F15 wires to attempt splicing them together ... that and the diagrams ...

I'm not entirely sure what is the case with the EDC since this plugs into the E70 selector module itself with the F85 plugs into somewhere else entirely.
