OE wheel upgrade options for E70

Hey guys,

I currently run the boring 18" style 209 wheels. I'll be needing tires before next winter, so I'm thinking about upgrading to 19" wheels also. Maybe I can pick up a set of dealer take-offs or something.

I like the factory + look. Nothing aftermarket and bling-ish.

I like the BMW style 214, but those are 20"

other styles I like are 335, 449, maybe 334.

Looking for some suggestions that will fit without modification...and pics if you got 'em!

thanks --

-19" I really love the 298M.
-20" I will go with style 214, 333M or 336.

298M .. hmm that is a nice wheel.

will wheels from newer X5s work, for example the 467m?

keep in mind, 298's are X5M (or was it X6M?) wheels, so you'll have hub mismatch on the rear axel.

Also good luck finding 449s with good pricing under $1000, these are current generation wheels, look amazing and basically are not being sold as most F15 X5s are leases, so no one is really selling their wheels.

IMO, if you want 19s, just go with 334s, it's the most common version found on the 35i premium/sport package cars. 335 style wheels are harder to come by as they were "downgraded" 19s options on a sport package 35d or 50i IIRC. Most 35d and 50i sport package owners paid up for 20s.

I think today, the best bang for the buck is finding a set of 214s. Plus staggered 315 width tire look amazing on the X5 from the rear view. You will NEVER achieve this look with 19s even with spacers.

If I were looking, I'll try hard for 336 wheels. Those are rare as they were only on sport packaged 50i's.

great info, thanks Ace.

for run flats - would you expect a much shorter tread life for 19s or 20s compared to 18s?

Check the forums often for an OEM spare. Aim for $160ish for wheel and tire. Then separately buy OEM scissors jack
