^ today was good at first thought id get everything together finally.

^ cant believe how dirty everything is and lined with oil...

^ then this happened... broke the nipple on my intake manifold.

needless to say i am pissed... who would of thought the thing would be plastic.. i know bmw is reknown for it but thats just poor..

Fun job of removing intake manifold tmoz now... no chance at reviving the plastic nipple either... its snapped down to what ever metal sleeve it has within the manifold

Ok attacked this broken nipple on the manifold, took me ages...
Tools/parts used:
- zip ties, tied off cables out the way to remove manifold
- 1/4 barb - 1/8 NBT nipple thread
- dremel to grind away/cut at the nipples original housing
- epoxy to seal the nipple on the manifold
- 1/8-27 NBT tap
- drill bit to bore the hole out

^ Broken vacuum nipple..

^ removal of manifold begins moved throttle body to the side

^ dirty donk

^ #1 very dirty

^ #2 better picture but even dirtier

^ #3 better picture again, probably the worst being closest to throttle body/intake

^ #4 couldn't really get better pictures of others, but they weren't as bad

^ manifold off and full view

^ not the best looking but should do its job

^ epoxy applied and sealed

on top of all this... my battery died... so going to connect the tender today and hope to get it all running.. cleaned most of my intake manifold still gotta give it a thorough wipe down, going to re-use gasket as i have obviously gotta have this booked in for a walnut blast once i am back from next swing.

PS HKS BOV C clip is a real C**T!

This is a common problem
There are a few threads on the forum covering this.
Did you get your battery sorted, this can be a cause of the steering lock issues afaik

sorry to be that guy, but that bonnet gap is very disconcerting to look at and can be fixed in a matter of minutes with a torx/cross screwdriver. Also i think once you get the adjustment right, immediately improves how the car (bonnet flushed with the grilles) looks at literally no cost.

all you have to do is unscrew the plastic guard on the 2x hook latches and screw clockwise (deeper) but have enough clearance for the bonnet to shut properly, this can be done by trial and error. I suggest shutting the bonnet by dropping it from a certain height as a more even and less labour intensive method, also you don't risk denting the bonnet by applying too much pressure on it.

So your car has power but the steering lock won't disengage?

Have a read here and let us know if its the same issue
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1195205

You might need to hook up the diagnostic tool to reset the steering lock.

Hey mate, i actually have read your responses on this matter, seems like its the only thing left to do other then taking off the steering column and unlocking the mechanism.

Ill give it a go, what installation do you recommend?
