Off road tyres for X6M

Folks

I'm taking part in a rally supporting Help for Heroes, which is a rally of 4x4 vehicles following the path of the Allied Invasion through Europe mainly following the route of the Band of Brothers book and television series.

Now I'm going to be the only BMW on the event, so I don't want to have all these Land rovers showing me up The 4x4 parts of the event aren't too bad, but having mud tyres would make a world of difference. Any one got any comments or thoughts on what tyres would make the X6M a more capable offroader?

Well, I don't have any tire recommendations for you, but wanted to wish you luck! Don't let us down! No pressure, no pressure.

Maybe find out what the Land Rovers are wearing? If they don't have an advantage in tires then you're bound to show them who's boss.

Folks, there is a difference between a 4x4 and "All wheel drive".

A BMW is not a 4x4 and was not designed for off road use. It won't take much to bust the suspension on an X5 as it was designed for street use.

I would be very careful.

1. Any damage is not ciovered by insurance
2. Any damage not covered by warranty and may in fact void a further warranty claims.

There is a reason you are the only BMW in the rally.

There's a few videos of X6's on grassy knolls and ski resorts, but haven't seen any true off-road excursions. I've done a fair share of off-roading and the ability to maintain low gears, combined with ample axle travel and high clearance, play a significant role in maneuvering about. Also, the ability to brush off minor dings/scratches is hard to swallow at first.

You can't go wrong with BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires, but I'm not sure if they would be compatible. Only one way to find out!

I am looking for an off road tire set up as well. From all the research I have done I can yet find anything that will fit. The problem lies in the part of the front suspension above and to the inside of the tire that only has about a 1/2 inch of clearance. Once you put an off road tire on it will rub (due to higher sidewall height). Only thing I can think of is putting a wheel spacer on pushing the front rims outward to gain clearance for off road tires.

you can see what I am talking about at the top of this picture.

If anyone at all has any solutions help us out.
