Comfort access not working on driver side

Comfort access is not working on the driver side the other doors are working fine. On the driver side door handle I can feel that the handle is a little warmer than the rest of the doors. Can the handle be removed without removing the door panel. Would like to buy a handle off Ebay and replace the parts to avoid having to paint the handle.

Thanks

Careful with the CAS door handles. I brought mine into the dealer and they shorted something and the door handle got so hot it melted and needed to be replaced. It also threw off my entire electrical system. No radio, no bluetooth, no park distance control, no CAS. I'd have that looked at ASAP

They ended up replacing two door handles

Yes. You'll need a Hex/Allen wrench to take the handle off. It's actually pretty easy. Plenty of videos on YT. I would pull fuse #132 (back) while doing the work. It disables CAS, amongst other things.

They fried your fuse and charged you for two handles instead of one (doesn't matter if under warranty/free) because they didn't know what they were doing . You get the same result when you pull fuse #132 in the back.

I agreed, they definitely didn't know what they were doing and the vehicle was there for 2 weeks. They covered everything 100%, I even got a goodwill fuel filter replacement out of it.

I swapped the rear handle for the driver door handle.

So now my driver door CA works but rear driver side door does not.

These CA door handles are garbage ... I've had 3 out of 4 fail on my truck already and no longer have CA handles on the rear doors. :/

They are very expensive to replace out of warranty - about $250/piece color matched to your truck.

My advice is to unplug any that are hot/not working properly since they drain the battery and cause "High battery Drain" errors - No need to replace with another handle if your not up for spending that much on a door handle ...

Did you ever attempt to take one apart? Do you have any of the bad ones lying around?

I do have a spare lying around from changing my drivers door. - If you want it shoot me a PM.

Attempted to take it apart starting with the notch in the rear but it didn't go anywhere, took the small squarish notch off and revealed nothing that would point to it being repairable.

Handle seems to be glued together and not meant to be disassembled ... at least easily or where it would go back together properly.

I would like to try this. Did you encounter any problems later on?

I recently swapped out my non working passenger handle with one I bought off eBay for around $40, found a good deal so i pulled the trigger. Works perfectly and was easy to install.
