If you want LED fog lights, you need to find ones with Load Resistors built it, otherwise you will get an error message.

I learned this the “hard way”, though since the fog lights are so easy to change, it wasn’t a big deal to revert them back to stock.

I just bought a separate pair of load resistors that I plan to connect to the LED H11 fogs I bought, and I hope this gets rid of the error message.

I’ll post details of my results.

The problem with LED fogs is that they have a very low power draw, and BMW also uses them as cornering lights. The Lights aren't true on/off because they also serve as cornering lights, they fade and dim, which will cause flickering and shorten the life of the bulb drastically unless the LED lights can handle dimming.

You'd be far better off finding a higher color temp halogen bulb (4000-6000k) and replacing it with that instead to match the look of the LED light. You'll need to experiment to find a color you like.

I went another route - I coded my car to disable the cornering lights altogether.

Just to be on the safe side and have less head ache go with the Halogen White Bulbs

I just tried the load resistors with a set of H11 LEDs that I bought from CARid.com.

The load resistors were 50 watt ,6 ohm.

In installed them and the load resistors got incredibly hot within about 3 mins. They got so hot that even the positive and negative wires connecting them started to melt! Too dangerous to install!

For now, I just put the LED bulbs in and will deal with the warning light that says "bulb failure". I will be sure to check that they don't get overheated the next time I drive the car. If they do, I'll revert to stock, and go the halogen route.

Anyone else have any luck with LED fogs????

If so, please share!!!!

Anything like this will do:

Cree: powerful
Canbus: built in resistor, error free

I assume you're referring to these Cree LEDs which claim to be error free with the use of the load resistors:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-H11-CREE-L...e58681&vxp=mtr

They probably will work the same as the Lumen LED bulbs I bought from CARID, which also claimed to be "error free" without even the use of the load resistors!

http://www.carid.com/universal-led-l...FY6e4Aod8E4Asw

I installed separate load resistors with the Lumen LED bulbs, and they look great, with no error codes, but the resistors got dangerously hot (as I posted previously).

Plus there is no good place to mount the resistors near the fog lights, unless you extend the wiring quite a bit.

Anyone else have any luck with LED fogs? They look amazing! Just wish the resistors didn't get so hot!

Anyone know if a different resistor would work? Something that will actually reduce the load on the resistor so it wouldn't get so hot?

Don't buy cheap Chinese products

If you are interested in LED fog light, Bellof is good http://www.bellof.co.jp/products/led...b/boldray.html
or Nokya http://mtqinc.com/nokyausa/new.php

When I had LCI X6, I installed HID instead.

led foglights are kind of pointless IMO. I had them installed in my S550 and although they were extremely bright to look at, they didnt put much light out. LED are better suited as DRL, not as a functional foglight.

Question

Good morning all,

New member here, just bought 2011/11 E71 X6 40d and ready to start mod`s !

I`m UK based and looking to change the Angel Eyes from the yellow yukk to a nice bright white - can anyone point in right direction.

Plus I`d like to change the lower fog lamp to match, I`ve heard Halogen is the way forward?

I understand its probably been done to death on here but thanks in advance.

We haven`t even picked the car up yet and already we have dealer/garage carrying out modifications - going for all stealth look.

Cheers and thanks.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum, the best angel eyes are prob from ish on the forum i bought a set of 32w led angel eyes and recommend these highly as they look great and there only £100 delivered! Also for the foglights i chose a set of hoen xenon match fogs as these match the xenon headlights in colour and look great.
