BMW X6 MY09 steering wheel retrofit?
Is it possible to retrofit X6M steering wheel to a normal X6? I would like to have the paddles: left "-" / right "+". I've seen 2013/2014 X6 steering wheels with paddles like this
Thank you very much |

You can just purchase the +/- paddles and are a direct swap or can do as I did by swapping the pins in the electrical connector (located behind the airbag) to existing paddle on the right side thus causing upshift upon pulling.

To the best of my knowledge it should not require coding. If you are going from non heated to heated there may be coding activation required to activate that function but do not know that for sure. Just note that 09 has the CCC idrive and that wheel has the programmable "star" and "diamond" buttons whereas a 10+ with CIC idrive has printed radio mode and recirc buttons. If you would want to maintain the button integrity then could most likely just swap the switch button grouping.

Interesting. What if the stock car doesn't have paddles at all? Would a steering wheel like the X5M wheel with paddles work also in that case? Is it all already prewired?
Mine has the line departure detection, no heat, no paddles. Otherwise the car is a 50i loaded with M perf pkg. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a X5M wheel or M perf alcantra wheel. |

I would love to do this mod! I've been searching for a walkthrough on the pin swap but came up short!
