Do you know what is required to get the "heated" option enabled, just a coding once this wheel is installed or some additional hardware?

I do not. I think I remember researching it when I first got this steering wheel and I came up empty. I remember people saying it would take more than just coding to get the heated option to work.

Any closeups of the grip areas? Is there any wear? Original leather or has it been re-wrapped?

I do not see any signs of wear. It is the original leather but the steering wheel is not that old. Close ups of the 10, 2 and 6 o clock positions attached

Hmmm... looks nice but I was holding out for the M-sport model with the Nappa Leather - my 07's wheel is wearing and the leather isn't soft anymore (glossy and hard). I need to think about this.

I have had the opportunity to touch three X5 steering wheels in the past few weeks. The non-sport that came with my 35d was terrible. This sport that I upgraded to (the one for sale) was a huge improvement over the non-sport. Just took delivery of a 50i m-sport and that steering wheel is incredible. I can understand if you want to upgrade to the m-sport. It's only drawback is price.

Take care

Did you change the steering wheel yourself and was it difficult? If you took to dealer, how much did they charge you?

Did it myself using a DIY post I found on the web. The hardest part is releasing the airbag cover through the tiny holes in the back. I ended up practicing on the new wheel with the airbag cover off first. Then a couple of times with the airbag cover on the new wheel. Once I had it down I did it on the old steering wheel on the car.

Just make sure you disconnect the battery before doing anything. Don't want the airbag going off when messing with it. One thing that was not in the DIY was after you disconnect the battery and reconnect I had an error on the NAV unit the first time I started the car. It went away once I started driving. I thing it had something to do with the AWD system.

Did this 2 successful times. 1st was last year when I bought the sport steering wheel and again a couple of weeks ago to put the non-sport back on before trading it in.

If you take it to a dealer it shouldn't take them more than 30min.
