Out of the blue last week my rear stared making a dreaded clunking and jerking noise. Drop it off to my local indy repair shot and fast forward to today and I find out the gears inside are shot.

They're able to get one of the SIX in the country but OUCH! The pain. Second big expense in 6 months (water pump back in October).

What's next *? I know the upkeep as time goes on gets costly. I've got 95k on the clock and I feel like the countdown is beginning and could love some insights.

You're driving a complex machine that's old & all machines eventually break. Yes, repairs are not nice to have to undertake but car payments aren't fun either. All of us get to the point where we have to decide if we want to move on to something else. That something else may be another type/make of used vehicle or buying a new car with the piece of mind that comes with a factory warranty.

Good luck.

2013 x5 35i Xdrive. She's got 94,500Mi on the clock. I wouldn't be in as much pain if the water pump didn't take a dump on my birthday last year (happy 50 to me )
