157k bone stock. Lots of maintenance but I wouldn't say any different than any other BMW. A lot of the diesel components are under 10 year / 120k mile warranty.
There is some extra stuff on the diesels but nothing overly expensive if you DIY.

That Tunemyeuro kit is a nice start, though not necessary to do all at one time. Ours has 166,000 miles on it, purchased with 133,000.

Grouped in services performed at the same time I've done:
  • Complete brake service (Regular Maintenance)
  • Both NOX sensors - replaced used with newer units (Repair)
  • Glow plugs, control module, and engine partitions (Repair)
  • Water pump, thermostat, belts, idlers/tensioners (Repair and
    Preventative Maintenance)
  • Complete front suspension rebuild (Repair and Preventative Maintenance)
  • Rebuilt the SCR tank with rebuild kit (Repair)
  • Replaced AGM battery (Regular Maintenance)

2020 was a rough one (for many reasons) for the E70 as the transmission went out. E clutch bearing failure so no gear above 4th. Had the valve body rebuilt and serviced the trans but no dice. So the truck is currently in the air and I'm doing:
  • Rebuilt transmission valve body (Repair)
  • Replacing transmission w/ 80k used unit. Reusing rebuilt valve body and EGS (Repair)
  • Engine mounts (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Transfer case mount (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Rear main seal (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Had the DPF cleaned while it was out (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Both pressure converters (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Vacuum lines (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Both guibos/flex disks (Preventative Maintenance)
  • Fuel filter

Anyway, for all BMWs (luxury brands in general), if you aren't working on it yourself, it will quickly out strip its value in service repair bills. In our ownership we've spent only about $4000 in parts because I do all the work. That includes the replacement trans ($800) and DPF cleaning ($433). Most of the money I spend is on preventative maintenance so that I can avoid repairs/break downs. I feel for Liam with a $6000 DPF replacement bill, but certainly agree with keeping the system. I could not drive a BMW that smelled like a 90's diesel pickup truck.

Don't forget about the fuel filters. They should be done regularly.
I do mine every year, but I'm fully deleted.

Absolutely. I forgot that on my list up there with the trans service. Have one on the way. Once a year is awesome preventative maintenance, I think recommended is only once every 3 oil changes though. This will be my first filter since ownership as I was unaware of the diesels' filter change intervals until recently.

Here's a tip for everyone:

Seal the rain treys up 100% with something (used Butyl, but im sure caulking would work too), then do a leak test to verify the seal.
now I finally have mine sorted (4 months later)
haha so that lasted about a week, then i got the same CEL again
(4BD9-activation cyl #6) and ive already replaced it about a month and half ago..
still get the mis fires and CEL with limp mode...
my rain trays have all been replaced ,and they have been sealed...

.... wondering if i should swap out Injector #1,6 and see if the problem moves with the injector or not. But at that point, its probly cheaper to just replace the injector again, rather than to diagnose it all.

ugh
