E70 X5M - 2ABC Code Help
The car is going into limp mode again after thinking it was solved. I get a 2ABC which is Boost Pressure Sensor Electric. I replaced my tmaps on the intercooler a couple months back and also the maps on the manifold at the same time. Used factory BMW on both. Anyone running into this? 1st and 2nd full wot no issue. 3rd gear once i hit about 4500-5000 RPM it kicks on. same thing goes on 4-6 gear but randomly. Let me know what you know or have seen much appreciated. I would love to just drive the car without going limp.
Parts replaced on Car: Tmaps on intercooler Tmaps on Manifold all 3 vent hoses all vacuum lines Both Boost Solenoids DV+ no tears in the factory DV. Spark plugs gapped to .022 Eldor Coils Index 12 injectors both air ducts |

Just got the car back and my mechanic did a full inspection of the car. Pressure tested to check for leaks none. Pressure tested the turbos both seal shut and no leaks and hold. He checked voltage at both intake pressure sensors and they checked out at 5v each so it’s not a circuit issue. What he did find was that the catalytic converters looked clogged especially bank 1. He mentioned this is most likely the cause of the 2ABC code because the DME/boost pressure sensors are getting to far apart boost readings which is what causes the limp mode. I did have a misfiring issue in the past that has since been fixed with index 12 injectors, but all those misfires I had must have clogged the cats. The airflow is not good enough in bank 1 to match the flow of bank 2 which is popping the light. Man these cats aren’t cheap buying new...anyone have a good used set for sale on here?

I would check out the wastegates as XDriver mentioned before investing in new cats (get downpipes instead=) ) Take off your heat shield and see how much play they have in them. There is some adjustment you can do and You can test this with a simple hand held vacuum pump (Amazon has them cheap) At -10psi they should be just getting tight and at -12psi they should be drum tight.
There are wastegate rebuild kits out there if they are to worn out but it is not easy task (requires tig or mig welder, torch, press, etc) |

I appreciate it guys but as stated my mechanic checked the turbos and waste gates they are fine and hold pressure and boost that’s not the issue. I stressed it out to him to check and he did. When he removed the 02 sensor on bank 1 is when he realized to check the cats and he did with a probe they are clogged and I need new ones. You won’t get a code for bad cats if they are clogged but I’m told they are known to throw low pressure boost codes if the air pressure is to far apart. I know the car had the miss fire issue for a while all it takes is 1 bad misfire to screw up the cats let alone over a dozen times I got a misfire issue on the car before having the injectors replaced.

Don't have to be a dick, sounds like they are having a similar issue. Nobody likes 10 threads all focused on the same problem

Out of curiosity, what mileage were you at when the wastegates had to be replaced?

So after a few months of tinkering around it seems with the new active autowerke cats in the car def feels stronger and it’s harder to produce a 2abc but it still come son closer to redline but it comes on. It really is so annoying that I can’t do a pull with the damn light. Is there a way to code it out or change the value limits in the DME to read higher then 4.5? I might load back my velos tune and see what happens like does it kick in at lower RPM which is because boost is building up faster then on a stock tune? I really don’t know... I’ve been thinking of swapping the boost pressure sensor To see if that’s the cause but would that light be on as soon as I start the car if it was the issue?
