I believe that was only with the base motor V6. The GTS is the V8, I think it is auto only. I also thought they do not have 3rd rows. I could be wrong.

I vote for the X5 35D. Mine is tuned and its alot of fun with V8+ torque and the mileage of 30 mpg if you drive normal (70). I have worked on the M57 diesel motor for several years since i also run a E90 335d. We got the 2 row as we are in the grand parent stage now. Room for 5 is plenty for us. There is a 3 row in the 35D though. I like having the spare tire well though instead. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks to everyone who posted. Because condition and 3rd row are high on my list, I’m open to the 35d and the 35i, if the rest of the options and condition are what I’m looking for.
I drove an xdrive35i with sport activity package the other day (no 3rd row, so I’m not buying it), and I was very happy with the ride. It’s hard to duplicate the feeling of driving my 330i manual/sport onto a curved on ramp at speed, but it’s definitely about the closest I’m going to get in that type of vehicle. I test drove an MDX from the same years (2010 in this case). It was a perfectly decent car, but that’s the best I can say about it. I honestly thought I’d like it better than that. I didn’t. Here’s what’s holding me back - I’m afraid I’ll miss the manual transmission. I don’t have a terrible commute that makes me want an auto. Perhaps I should look for an older e70 (I’ve been searching for 2011-2013 only with low miles) and just keep my e90. Best of both worlds maybe, but the e70 would be higher miles and perhaps more maintenance...Hmmm... Just thinking out loud anyway—thanks for listening. -J

Porsche Cayenne SUV's came with a manual transmission, maybe its worth tracking one of those rare rides down and giving it a try? Best of both worlds? There is 32 for sale on autotrader across the country right now.

Well, thanks for the input everyone. I ended up buying a 2011 X5 xDrive35i with Sport Activity Package and 3rd row, among other things. It has super-low mileage, 1-owner, records, most of what I was looking for, and I just couldn’t pass it up. Deep Sea Blue with Cinnamon interior.
Thanks again everyone! -Jim

Good. I prefer the e70s to anything else really.
The Porsche is Ok in my mind, but the 'base' model Porsche compared to a 35i, the 35i is the clear choice in my head.
