DIY E70 X5M OEM Air Filter change issue

Hello,

I was trying to change E70 X5M OEM(Not K&N) air filter the other day, referencing this tread - http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=499319
It looked simple enough but I just couldn't get the bottom 4 clips unhooked, and was afraid to force them any harder, might end up breaking something else....

Is there some sort of easy trick that I'm missing to unhook these bottom 4 clips?

I always remove both pieces together as one and take them apart away from the vehicle to change the filters. It's just easier that way...

You have to remove the complete airfilter housing, put it together and then back in the car..

Thanks for tip!
In order to take them out together, I would just need to loosen the air intake hose clips right/left? then it would just slide out?

Yeah, loosen the two hose clamps, lift the housing up, and pull slowly. Take your time sliding off/on, the rubber boots are connected to some very fragile plastic vacuum lines.

Those are a PITA and expensive to replace if they crack...
