Buying advice for E70 X5 D (2007-2009)

Hi guys!

Been hanging out with the N54 guys on e90post for a bit but I'm now looking at trading in the wife's Audi S4 Avant for a E70 X5 D. So I'm looking for, particularly guys from Australia if possible, who have one and what tips and concerns I should be aware of when it comes to purchasing one and maintaining one.

From what I could scour across the interwebs, BMW diesels are mostly robust and that most of the issues happen with the petrol straight 6s and V8s.

Most of the ones I can see on Carsales.com.au are around the 150,000kms mark. What can I expect to start failing and needing replacing at around this mileage?

The years I'm looking at are 2007 to 2009 Aussie delivered versions.

Also, what are the major differences between the regular X5 d and the X5 xDrive35d?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to be in an informed buying position!

Thanks!

timot
