Footwell Module Question
I took my 2011 X5 in for service and the independent shop advised that while they were scanning the vehicle for error codes the Footwell Module failed. He advised that this is a known issue and that the dealer should cover the part even tho it is out of warranty. Anyone have this happen to them?

I have a 2010 X5m, but don't have this issue. However, when I type in my VIN in the BMW owner reimbursement website below, BMW ELW Footwell Module appears so there must be some kind of recall. Why else would they list it a a reimbursable item. The other items that show up are Fuel Injectors (which I did pay out of pocket but got reimbursed for) and In-tank fuel pump which I did not have any issues with yet.

My BMW service advisor told me that this is a common failure, which is why they will update all the other modules, but are hesitant to update the footwell module.

Just found this thread by googling elw footwell module as I too see it listed on the BMW site (www.bmw-rp.com) as a reimbursement item when I put in my vin - '11 335is. Curious if anyone has any specific part numbers for this unit they are calling for?
