Comfort Access Key Washed
Hi all,
My key went through the wash. I let it dry out for over a week without trying any buttons. It does not work. I changed the battery and it still doesn't work. Has anyone else been though this that can offer any help? Best case scenario I am hoping that it still isn't dry and will work the next time that I try it. Bad case scenario, it needs to be reprogrammed by the dealer. Worst case scenario it is a goner and I need to buy a new key and get it programmed. It is an unbelievable pain to not have the seat and mirrors adjust automatically to my settings when I unlock the door now. Thanks |

Sorry to hear. Hoping it fixes itself. Have you tried the rice trick? That worked for me with an old phone not too long ago.
Pop the back off and stick it deep in a cup of rice. The rice should pull a lot of the moisture out of it. Good luck

I went river rafting last week and like a fool, figured my comfort access key would stay dry in double ziplock bags. Got drenched, but it worked just fine afterward
Good luck sorting this out. |

Was overhearing a few computer tech's talking about submerged phones and other electronics.
Their remedy was ASAP take out the battery, completely submerge in isopropyl alcohol for @ 10 minutes, shake it around gently to get the alcohol into all the areas. Remove and blow out with compressed air, then put in with dry rice in a zip lock bag for 48 hours. Well back a few years my daughter dropped a blackberry in the lake, I did exactly as above and surprised as I was it worked fine after. I have done this to other electronic items that have gotten wet and it has been pretty successful. The alcohol works like putting dry gas in the tank of a car and lets the water be removed with the alcohol when you blow it out, the rice just completes the drying process. The more you can get it apart the better it will get the water out and dry. You may have ruined some of the circuitry trying to press buttons while wet but give it the alcohol bath as above and give it a shot, cant break it any more than it is! Good luck |
