E70 X5 Custom Trunk Layouts?
I've seen BMW offer some trunk accessories in their catalogs, for various types of storage.
While searching, I came across some posts about the older E53 X5s having a sliding load floor from the factory. http://automotorpad.com/bmw-cars/427...floor-bmw.html Has anyone done something similar to their E70 X5s or anything else custom to their trunk, as far as storage goes? -Don |

There's no answer because a slide-out load floor wasn't offered on the e70 (it had other options that the e53 didn't have (like 3rd row seats). The e53 X5 has "accessories" for the roll-out load floor feature because it was an actual choice of having the roll-out load floor...or having the standard floor.
If you want a roll-out load floor on an e70...you can probably have some custom work done ($$$$) to make it happen...but it will be "custom" work...not regular options or even aftermarket selections for an oe set-up. The roll out load floor had its issue, too. It tended to get "rattle" issues after a while which can be annoying to most owners. {#1 in diagram below is the e53 roll-out load floor option} http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E5...loading_floor/ {#1 in diagram below is the e53's regular load floor} http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E5...l_trunk_floor/ {#1 in diagram below is the e70's regular load floor} http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E7...l_trunk_floor/ {#1 in diagram below is the e70 w/3rd row seat's load floor} http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E7...trunk_floor_2/ |

Roll out would be nice for diving so you dont have to drag tanks across your tailgate. I'm sure you could fabricate some rollers to fit on the inside and top of the storage rails. Probably would rattle and squeak though. I spent a few hours chasing down squeaks in my wife's E70 this past weekend. There are already lots of places that can rattle/squeak in the tail end...lots of plastic on plastic contact etc
