Engine Malfunction
Got the Engine malfunction message the other day while driving on the highway. Message that engine operating at reduced output. Possible to continue. Drive with caution. Have the system checked by the nearest BMW center.
And then following that (dealer could not get me in right away), long crank times when car was cold and sluggish acceleration. Was the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) on one bank of cylinders. Not sure if it is the same one as the N54/N55 6-cyl, but they actually stocked the part and had the car ready in less than 24 hours (along with a ton of scheduled maintenance). Long story short, these pumps go out on the 50i (V8) model too

X6M Reduced Power warning (2010 model)
I had the same message and they replaced all 8 fuel injectors and the cooling pump (pardon my vocabulary deficit here... I have no mechanical aptitude). I have the extended warranty and it cost north of $7,000.00. Ouch.
95,000 miles on it. It gets better gas mileage now and the acceleration is markedly better. |

I keep having this issue... They've replaces all 8 injector, Ignition coil and it's in the shop as we speak getting a fuel pump replaced! This truck has been a nightmare as far as maintenance! 2011 BMW X6 5.0
