A bunch of posts on here about that problem. I have the same BS and have been told by the kind people @ Bmw that it's just the compound of the brakes. It goes away if you speed up to around 80km/hr and slam the brakes VERY hard.
I plan on solving this issue in the future by buying a car from a manufacturer that winter tests their vehicles |

Common problems for all the performance brake system. Once heated up everything will go back to normal again (this is what few BMW workshop had told me). So far, when mine is heated up, the sound is gone.

Had the same problem; brakes squealed like a banchie when I backed out of the garage in the early am. Wife loved it as it woke her up everyday at 6. Dealer said common problem on x5 and x6 M models. They replaced pads and rotors and so far so good since.....

I took my car in for this problem twice! My car had really loud squeeking only when backing up no matter what the temperature. First time the dealer replaced the rear brake pads. Second time they replaced the whole rear brake system (rotors, calipers, and fixed. BMW said they would do this as a one time courtesy. WTF? How is it a courtesy when they are SUPPOSED fix the problem??
Brakes still squeek!!!! I asked my service advisor what they would do next and he said that they will probably have to have BMW send a technician to take a look at it to see what the problem is. I really don't understand what is wrong. Has anyone taken their car in for this problem and actually had the problem fixed?

Low temps and performance pads don't mix apparently. |

As I said I had the same problem on my X5M. It was really loud. The service manager at McKenna in Downey said this is a common problem. For whatever reason it only happens in reverse. I was told it was only occurring on the X5 and X6 M models. They did brakes and rotors two weeks ago and I haven't heard it since. If it happens again u can bet I'll b paying them another visit....I think with problems of this nature it all comes down to the dealer's willingness to make the effort to solve the problem. In my case I purchased the vehicle as a demo from McKenna so they may have been more accommodating because of that. Good luck!

I am going to try the Brembo brake bedding procedure below, and see if this helps the situation:
•While the vehicle is stationary, pump brakes to ensure a firm pedal. •Drive the vehicle cautiously to test fit and function. •The brakes should be smooth, with no vibrations, judder, etc. •Drive the vehicle to a remote area and perform at least 30 brake applications of 3-second duration. Use light/medium deceleration with varying starting speeds. Leave at least ˝ mile between each brake application. •The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the components without inducing thermal shock, and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces. •After the repeated stops, drive the vehicle for several miles with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components. •After the above process is completed, the system is ready for normal use. •When the system achieves elevated brake temperatures for the first time, a slight increase in pedal travel and pedal effort may occur. After this first "fade" and proper cooling, the system will maintain its optimum performance at all temperatures. |

To keep the sound away you will need to replace pads often. Well before they are worn.

It could be it is a BMW performance material issue, BMW changed TWICW under warranty performance brakes (second time incl.discs) on my E92, as they were making noise. Just in case, one thing to watch out for is the spray used to clean the wheels, make sure you either wash it off properly or not use it as it could lead to the brakes squeeking as well.
