Swapping headlights between 2010 X5M and 2013 X6M (LED)

Hey guys, a friend of mine is trading in his 2013 X6M and offered me to swap the headlights, since the dealer he is giving the car to won't know the difference. He has the Adaptive LED headlight option.
He's got a 2013 X6M and I've got a 2010 X5M. I read the threads about retrofitting the headlights to the 2010/2011 X5M and needing the retrofit wiring kit and a new FRM3 module. Now, if I have access to both vehicles, do I still need those items?

Not sure the answer to your question, but damn that would suck to buy that '13 X6M and later realize it was originally built with LED headlights/coronas, but they were swapped out for the non-LED/halogen setup!

It is not just plug and play. Need to be coded and some stuff need to be rewired.

All in all nice for you, bad for the next owner of the x6..

You will need the LED retrofit wiring harness for your vehicle.
You may be able to swap FRM3 modules, but you will have to get both of them coded to operate in the prospective vehicle.
You may have to order a separate wiring harness for the X6 so that the Xenon Headlights are wired properly...

It will be some work and a few headaches, but definitely worth it!
Nice of your friend to offer the headlights.... the headlights alone are, by far the biggest expense.

DO IT!!!

I ordered the retrofit harness, not sure how long it's gonna take to arrive. Another issue I can think of is that my car has the older FRM module, since it was built before 10/10. So if I put my FRM module in a 2013 e71... it probably wont work

Arg really like the look of those squared angel eyes...

Must stay focused! Engine mods first then cosmetic.

digging this up - reading through all of these LED swap threads and wondering if you ever did this? and did the new owner of the X6 stumble upon the board looking for the same instructions?!!
