If you have angel eyes that are currently powered by a halogen bulb, there is only so much you can do to make them "brighter". Most of the time, the inside corona will light up bright but the outside one will look completely washed out.
If you really want to step it up, you will need to retrofit the LCI angel eyes as they are powered by a superbright LED on the BOTTOM of each ring. The halogen (pre LCI) has one bulb for both coronas. Do some research on the way fiber optics work and you'll see that often times adding brighter bulbs does not result in brighter angel eyes. Most of these aftermarket LED or whatever kits then ultimately are a waste of money. What the pre-LCI design looks like. And the LCI design. Completely different and no way to replicate. |

We now offer the LUX H8 V4 angel eyes. They are about 20% brighter then the V3's and by far the brightest on the market.

If you look at the lights from a slight angle, you will see the outer rings becoming really dim. I am currently using LUX. It is great. Probably the best LED bulb you can find in the market. If you like it, definitely go for it. But keep in mind of what P1et said above. If you are a perfectionist who seeks what the LCI LEDs look like, this will not be the way to go. After my warranty expires, I will be opening my housing and replace the entire ring with LEDs. I found someone local who can do this for $200-$300 only. That's the price of a LUX package. It is something similar to the OSS in this post, but with a more uniform light: http://www.luxury4play.com/bmw/10577...kout-pics.html http://ossdesigns.net/ Or if you have the money, get the OEM LCI headlight unit and retrofit it. I took the cheap way out and went to ebay and found 20w cree bulbs for $80/ pair. Installation was a PITA. It seems like they used the person wiith the smallest hands to engineer the bulb compartment. As some previous posts mentioned, replacing the bulbs may not get you brighter lights, but you can improve from the yellow halogen and get whiter lights. No complaints from me.

Got another set for the x5 sitting here ready to go in Saturday! You could spend 3-4x the price but you aren't getting 3x the brightness like 2012+ models. Taking the extra money and color matching the moldings

Installed mine last night!
Pro tip remove the wiring harness before twisting the bulb out! Figured this out on the second side much easier bc the factory wiring isn't long enough to get a good grab and you'll end up scratching the stock halogen. Tip 2- look thru the headlight to line up the 3 points on the bulb, twist and move up and down to get the gasket squished. Can't be beat! Now find a body shop for that ugly Unpainted trim! |

That tool wouldn't help twist the bulb in and out of the housing.
That would only help remove the hardness which a flat head screw driver does well. |

Twisting the bulb is not the hard part (or at least not for me). The hard part would be to unclip the harness and fish it back to the bulb once it's time to reconnect the cable. That is what the tool was handy for. You scrape your hands up a bit taking out and putting the bulb back in, but that harness connection would have been impossible for me.
