What are the differences between X6 4.0d and 3.5d

Hi, in 2 week I will buy a new X6, I know 4.0d is new version on 3.5d but I want to learn what are the differences. İn my coutry I need 120.000 euro for X6 4.0d but if I wanna X6 3.5d I need 113.000 euro.

If you were me, what would you do?

thanks,

the main differences are:

1. much better fuel consumption
2. 8 speed gearbox - smoother, faster changes, better fuel consumption (35d was 6speed)
3. more torque starting at lower revs (1500rpm). Hence should feel faster. (35d max torque started at 2000rpm)
4. faster acceleration -6.5s vs 6.9s
5. more power - 20hp. Should make a real difference.
6. cruise control with STOP and GO

from what you said, the difference is 7000 euro. which may sound like much, but consider the depreciation. the 40d will hold its value better and so when u want to sell it after 3-4 yrs, you will get more for it, and i believe make back that 7K you spent initially.

Very true, but 7000 euro is a lot of money.

Dont get me wrong,i will buy 40d,but if you dont care much about few HP more and several smart thing you shold go for 35d. Trust me,its amazing ride!

thanks a lot, I make a decision; if I found a X6 3.5d which is cheaper than 111.000 euro I'll buy it but if I don't find a X6 3.5d which is cheaper than 111.000 euro I wiil not buy it. in this instance I'll buy X6 4.0d with 120.000 euro because its new version of 3.5d.

If I buy 3.5d, yes it will be in 0 km but its model will be old, am I wrong?

The 4.0d will not be worth a 7000 euro premium over a 3.5d when you come to sell it. In the UK there isn't that price difference between 3.0d and 3.5d.

the 4.0d is not 120,000 euros in the UK! Its all relative. Especially where this guy is from. I assume taxes are jacking up the price so much?

I agree its relative although why not let someone else pay the tax on the new vehicle drive it out the showroom and watch it drop then pick it up with a significant discount.

1. much better fuel consumption

Not that much better, and if you calculate the additional purchase cost its not applicable

2. 8 speed gearbox - smoother, faster changes, better fuel consumption (35d was 6speed)

This the one thing that sets the car apart from the 3.5d

3. more torque starting at lower revs (1500rpm). Hence should feel faster. (35d max torque started at 2000rpm)

In the real world you would not notice this.

4. faster acceleration -6.5s vs 6.9s
5. more power - 20hp. Should make a real difference.

Both of these are again not really noticeable in real world driving

6. cruise control with STOP and GO

Whats this?

Now if the 4.0d had the new LED DRL headlights then I say get the 4.0d!!

You would pay 7000 euros just because of a couple of shiny headlights?
