Irvine Cars & Coffee - X5M not good enough

Went to the Irvine Cars & Coffee this morning & there is a small line to get in.

Two cars ahead of me is a white M5. The guy guiding traffic says something to the M5 & he makes a u-turn and pulls away.

A Porsche 911 is in front of me & the guy guiding traffic lets him pass and enter C&C.

I pull up in my X5M & the guy says they are expecting a large crowd; they have a Jag event & ask me to make a u-turn & park in the overflow parking.

I said to check out my license plate in the rear. As he walks behind my truck, I drive off & enter/park in C&C.

Turns out there was plenty of parking. Traffic guy was a total "ick". Makes me wonder if they don't like BMW's.

I wouldn't bring my 650hp supercharged M3 to C&C and I wouldn't bring my X5M either...not saying that BMW or X5 M are not good enough but I don't feel my BMW are that exotic. I would go to check out Ferrari or lambo aventador but everyone is free to bring out their car and the traffic guy was being a snob

Yeah, I had a similar experience one of the two times I took the X5M out there. The lady said "yeah...this is Cars and Coffee parking, spectator parking is that way. What are you?" I was even there for a specific gathering which she understood and didn't say anything else.

The way I see it though is that C&C isn't specifically a car show, it's more of a car gathering for car enthusiasts with unique cars. The 2nd time I went, a dozen IS-Fs rolled in, most of them stock or simply lowered with exhaust, basic mods, etc. Nothing wrong with it, just saying they shouldn't judge one car when they don't judge another.

I think the X5M is worthy as it's a low-production number car and fairly unique. They're "neat" I guess. You get all types of cars rolling in, some amazing, some crap, and a whole lot of 'regular' high end cars. I think the beauty of it is that you get all types of enthusiasts, but no bad vibes or crappy attitudes (except from the people who manage the entrance apparently.)

I went this morning too. Saw someone's nice white X5M with some nice rims (never heard of the company, signature or something?) I didn't even try to get in. My cousins 600 HP 2011 Frozen Grey M3 (1 of 30, probably one of one for supercharged frozen grey) was turned away. The person said it was SUPPOSED to be 1999 and older today, but I saw a bunch of random new cars. And some ghetto ass old cars. If you get there early enough they can't force you to leave. I guess it's getting so popular that the organizers said they're going to make themes from now on. That's just what I heard.

They tend to have a different "marque" car every week I believe. Those cars get to park in the front lot and are meant to be the featured car. I don't think I'll be going back in the X5M anytime soon, unless I do something really crazy to it.

Most people just assume its another soccer mom X5. I had a kid ask me why I put a M3 badge on my suv!!??LOL

Yeah donho's right most people have no idea what these trucks are but i'd say 95% of the time I head out at night near woodward ave in birmingham I get people turning heads left and right when I roll by. Around town I get the occasional glance but nothing major, chicks def dig it though

I just Posted on thread by E4L forum East Coast Area.....and ask if BMW's are Welcome.specially X5.....and they said...we are good to go....so we bringing X5's here in NJ area..........sucks that West Coast are like that.......btw..that was funny when the guy looked at your Lisc Plate..and BAM!......lol..

...we were going to head to "Panda MEET in east brunswick" ..but apparently they only do it once in a blue moon....

CnC Irvine is pretty selective on cars now after the PML/L4P takeover a few weeks ago. My X5 got in but basically every other M car that showed up was turned away. They're looking for older cars/serious exotics now I guess.

Just takes one thing to screw it up for everyone I guess. Though honestly L4P brought some quality cars...I don't get it.

A few years back there was an S2000 "takeover" where something like 70 S2000's rolled in (the marque car that day was the NSX, so they tagged along I guess) and the CnC forum blew up with people bitching about not getting their usual spots. It probably happens in waves. They'll notice a slowdown eventually and welcome everyone again until the next time someone does a "takeover".

Nice vid. I will try to make it but I have been so busy traveling, I am around like 1 to 1.5 weeks a month

Yes I am on that other site, same name. i have not been doing anything to the X5. I was thinking of dumping it when the E63 s come out.

On that vid, the 4.8 sounds the best in my opinion. and it looks fast too.

Never heard of PML/L4P takeover of CnC, but what you have shared makes sense.

They should be careful because the next time someone is turned away they may say its not because of their car, but who they are; i.e. male vs female, color of skin, etc...

C&C has been getting very strict the last couple of weeks. A few of us with M5 F10's got hassled by the gatekeeper. They told us they only wanted exotics and classics. Unfortunately if you really want to park in the lot you need to get there before 6 am.

We also live in Chino Hills. My wife told me she have seen another white X5M driving around.
