FYI- if you have CPo coverage or factory keep bring the truck back and leaving it, I was able to score 4grand from BMW corp. because they couldn't find a issue and the combination between days held and visits was between the lines of LemonLaw

Goto leamonlaw.com and contact the lawyers. Your state guide lines should be listed there. Good look ?
I really hope you're wrong. I've listened to some engines on YT running with spun bearings and the sound is distinctively different, although that doesn't mean anything.

If someone does diagnose this sound as a spun bearing, it's getting traded for an F10 M5 or F06 M6 GC in a heartbeat...

EDIT: Also, wouldn't the sound come from both intake pipes and not just from one side? I'm thinking there is something going on with Bank 1 specifically, and taking into account that the vacuum pump is mounted on Bank 1, I'm hoping it's the culprit.

Worst case scenarion its a blown head gasket which will cost right around six grand
That's terrible news, man. Sorry to hear that. Please keep us updated on your status.

Not sure if it's the turbo going out or maybe some sort of exhaust leak making the sound but I'm preparing for the worst.

If it's the turbo, may replace both with Pure Turbos.

Anyone hear anything like this before? Deal with this issue? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You know, I do get whirring from the AC Compressor when I turn the AC on so I know it's days are numbered...but I've never linked the two sounds together.

Having said that, the AC was off when I shot those videos.

Sorry to disappoint.

In all honestly, I'm not seeing any issues with performance or reliability and it's been going on for a year now (knock on wood). I just need this thing to last another 6 months and it's most likely getting traded, at least that's the plan and is subject to change.

IF it does break down and it's a direct result of the problem above, I'll update this thread accordingly.

Of course, if you diagnose it do not hesitate to share.

Well now that it’s been a couple of years did you ever figure out the clacking noise? Lol

Only noise I can hear is the intake venting system making that popping noise.

Other than that there are quite a bit of metallic noises that would be hard to pinpoint... nothing sounds that out of the ordinary really!

Nah, not really. Kinda gave up on figuring out what makes this thing tick (no pun intended) so now I'm just kind of rolling with it.

Yeah, kind of what I'm figuring/hoping.

This is exactly how mine sounded before I replaced them but then again they also sounded this way for a looong time so I never worried about it and it was really only the passenger side.

My turbos did eventually stop working around 116k
