Don't know what they had before but mine displays green, yellow, and red.

The new one displays map exits in full color etc. Green, yellow, and red itself is not new. If the HUD displays road maps for exits and turn-off's then that's the new one.

My understanding is no - it's still the "old" HUD system. My car is en-route to the dealer, so I should find out soon tho!

No x5 gets the newer style HUD as used in the 5 series ... either for USA or Europe.

the 2012 X5 has the old HUD. It does not have the new multi-color better display as the 5 series.
