Purchasing a 2012 X5 M--Couple of Questions

Hey Guys

New to the forum! Im looking on special ordering a silver fully loaded X5 M next week. I have been researching this car and the only issue i can find is the Rock chipping on the lower portions of the car as seen in this thread:

Have they fixed this issue for 2012? Should i ask the dealer to apply the film to the lower portion of the car? I am getting 1/2 Hood/Fender/Bumper/Mirror/Headlights and fog lights done.

Any other issues with the car?

I would have clear bra installed by a professional rather than the dealership. I think the pro will do a better job and I think there are better products than 3M. My car has Avery on it and it has much less orange peel effect than 3M

That said, make sure you do it asap. My car had a few nicks by the time I got it done. If you are worried about driving it until you get it done, apply blue painters tape to the rear rocker/flare area to protect it.

did the front bumper, 1/3 hood fenders, mirrors, a-pillars, rockers, flares, part of rear door in front of rockers, and behind rear wheels. the installer used Avery film, it looks amazing, really hard to tell. it also has a 7 yr warranty.

I fixed it by not giving a crap.........but that is just me. I rather put time into removing cone residue from my F430 after auto-X .........Steve
