Improper brake wear?

My wife has 2011 X5 35i Sport Activity with 18,000 miles so far. I just checked to see when the brake service is required and found the following:

Front brake pads in 34000 miles
Rear brake pads in 20000 miles

Doesnt it seem weird to have to replace the rear pads way before front ones? Unless this is normal?

does she drive in reverse a lot ;-)
