Partial open trunk
Does anyone know how I can partially leave the trunk partially open when carrying long objects that's sticks out of the trunk for short distance in my X5?

Do you have an automatic trunk? If so, there are settings in the iDrive that allows you to control how much you want the tailgate open..

Whether you think its safe are not is really up to you unless you pretty much have it fully open at which point your items could fall out and injure others. I'd personally just lay the middle seats down and fit the items in the interior if I could.
