Delivered!!
After about two months of waiting I finally took delivery on my 35i! I originally ordered it on the 26th of December with an estimated delivery date of February 15th, and during the wait I must have gone to the BMW website everyday to track my car. Viewing posts and pictures on this website made the anticipation that much more unbearable. I was like a kid on Christmas eve...
As the 15th approached I was in constant contact with my BMW salesperson, and although I was a pain he took his time and got back to me with answers to my questions. Unfortunately the delivery date was pushed back a week, to the 22nd, and to make matters worse I had a business trip scheduled and flew out the same day. Imagine my frustration when I was in Dallas and the BMW website said my car was at my BMW center! The whole week I just couldn't wait to get back to NYC. Short of the story, I picked my baby up on March 1st, and believe me the wait was well worth it. Initial impressions from only driving it for two days is that it is a beast. Surprising pick up for a heavy machine and it drives so smooth. I drove a G37 coupe before this, and obviously the G's acceleration is amazing, but I'm not missing too much with the X6. But BMW styling and luxury are in a class by itself. This is truly a luxury vehicle. The new idrive takes some getting used to, but it is very intuative and head and shoulders above the infiniti system. The quality of the leather is also well above that of the infiniti. Sorry for the long post, but I enjoyed reading all your posts about your initial experiences and just wanted to share mine. I will post pictures ASAP. The camera I had died on me. Details: BMW x6 35i. Alpine white exterior. Saddle brown w/ bamboo trim interior. Sport activity tech. Premium sound. Cold weather package. Running boards. |

Congrats Jiggabyte!
Thank You for your post and Good Luck with your new ride! I look forward to pics! (I'm also playing the waiting game for my new 6. I ordered mine exactly a month after you and I check the BMWNA web site every day. My salesman said it was scheduled for production on Monday of this week, so far no change on the BMW site......It actually lists the options I chose, but it has the wrong color for the interior and exterior....) Again Thanks for the post, it's nice to know that I'm not the only "patiently" waiting new owner out there!!! Texas |

Which BMW dealership did you order from? I ordered from BMW of Manhattan, 57th street. Did you order HUD? Unfortunately I heard that there were issues with HUD, that might be the reason for such a long wait. I hope you get yours sooner rather than later...

I'm in Toronto. I ordered my X6 35i in mid December and it arrived the last week of Feb. I was out of town, and like you took delivery on March 1st. After just three days of city and highway driving (still keeping under 4,000 RPM for break-in) I can say that it's the most enjoyable car that I've owned in some 40 years, and I've owned various Mercedes, Audis and similar. The handling, ride, build quality and technology are simply fantastic.
Mine has Head Up as well as side view cameras, and so I think that all the chatter on the forums about supply problems have been just that – chatter – at least in cars built since mid-December. Michael |

mreichmann,
I have a question. The side view cameras,... are they also used when you are reversing to see the side of the car? I was also wondering what PDC with top view is. What is the top view? Are there cameras at the top of th car looking down? Quote:

The side view cameras are built into the side view mirrors. They integrate an image together with the rear view camera. This appears as a top view as if from above the car.
Very handy when parking in a narrow spot, as they show the sides as well as the rear simultaneously. Michael |

Thanks. Mine's black on black. Very smart looking.
No pics, because at this time of year it takes no more than 5 minutes on the road for a car to be covered in dirt. Also, not sure what the posting of pictures is about on these forums, since all cars of the same model are the same, unless one has done mods or special wheels, which I haven't. Cheers, Michael |
