Instaling 3M carbon fiber film on roof tomorrow

Sounds like a cool idea, but why the roof? The car is very high so will you actually see the top of it?

Is it easy to wash, and is it possible to take off in the future?

interesting but why would you want to do this ? it may be carbon fiber but unless you're replacing the roof it just adds weight, ok little but still adds.

I actually inquired on doing this last week but haven't heard back from my "tint" guy yet due to Mardi Gras I'm sure. Ha! Anyhow, I was looking into just a regular black finish or even a matte black if available although the carbon fiber you are referring to sounds tempting. This is usually done to replicate a panoramic roof or simply add a sportier look to your vehicle with minimal cost. Personally being my vehicle is Titanium Silver and Black, I feel it will give it a sportier look over all.

I think the car has a slicker look, looks lower too, and next week with my new set of wheels style 214 in 20" will give the final touch I was looking for my car, Im happy, the good thing instead of painting is that if tomorrow I dont like it anymore, I just peel off the adhesive and end of the story.

Looks tough brother, great job!!! Shoot some pics from the front if you get a chance!! What did they charge you to install and how much did you have to order? I was looking at the 60"x48" roll. Also I may leave my fin/antenna the factory color and see how it looks then cover if I don't like. Thanks for the prompt pics and again, great job!!

They charged me $150 US dollars installed including the film used.

About how much film, the guy came with a huge roll of film, he used what he needed, so I cannot tell you how much he used, sorry.

About the shark fin antenna, he left me the antena in white, but I asked him to cover it, it looked to me like a white stain inside the black roof.
IMO I covering it is the way to go, if you have a light color car , if you have a black car I will leave it factory black.

Roof line falls a lot in the back of the X6, so any person of any height will see the results.
You wash it normally as you used too, you just got to be careful not to put any wax or polish since the product has some texture.
You can take it off in less than 5 minutes without harming the paint finish

Is not carbon fiber, is an adhesive film imitation, so no weight involved, is just a film over the roof paint

Is kind of a combination of matt + glossy finishes together, if you check the close-up picture of the roof, you will see matt lines and glossy one's, thats the usual carbon fiber look
