I've got the sport package and the active suspension. My car is higher than a kite. Waiting for H&R 1.2 inch drop springs to arrive. When I called BMW over my SOS service they referred me to my dealer concerning whether or not I had auto leveling or not. The service manager had to go ask a tech how to determine my answer...kinda silly.

yeah, that's what I will have. Can you post a picture of the fender gap before lowering and after lowering? I would recommend the 2" drop if you have the sport package including the active suspension. The tuner told me the that package alreay drops the cars like a .5 inch from the non-sport. Given that to be true, the 1.2" H&R springs lowers the car 1.2" from the non-sport stance. If you do the math, with the sport and active suspension it's only going to drop an additional .7 of an inch from where it stands now. I would recommend the 2" drop. It costs the same.

Below is a link to a picture of the front end as it now sits, scroll down to second picture. I was advised by my dealer that since I have self leveling head lights the two inch drop in the front may be too much for the mechanism to overcome, thus the planned 1.2 inch drop. I dropped a 328i recently and the headlights were way too low in low beam.

cool. When will you have the lowering done, and are you keeping the same wheel and tire setup? Are they 20's? Can you post pictures like that one, when you're done? Thank you.

They're BMW style 275 wheels.
Alloy, cast. 21 inches. 10 x 21, 285/35R21W Front; 11.5 x 21, 325/30R21W Rear. RDC complete wheel set includes four wheels with RDC and Dunlop SportMaxx DSST tires. (PN: 36 11 0 433 163)

I'd wager they are identical diameter to the 20 inch wheels and tires I took off and sold. Springs will be in today. Hopefully get it done this week...holiday?

Don't have a clue what "RDC" means. I cut and paste the technical info. from the BMW option web page for accuracy purposes. The wheels came on a pallet, tires mounted and balanced with TPM's. Tischer sells them for about $5200. plus shipping. Springs are in, install scheduled for Tue. 1/5.

The springs definitely made the car feel more stable in corners, and didn't seem to effect the ride much. I sure like the decrease in fenderwell gap also.

I'm going to be ordering Hamann springs soon. Ill post pics and thoughts on ride quality. Hamann drops it 1.57 inches both front and rear. Im thinking that's a good amount. Being in NYC 2" might be too much for me, and I don't want it too low.

I was actually looking at Hamann because I wanted something in between the 1" and 2". I'm also on the Northeast and agree with you. Please let me know how it turns out. I'll be looking for pics. What wheels and tires will you be running with the drop. What option do they have with that drop if one has the auto-leveling system?

For right now im staying with the stock 20s until the summer. I'll probably go with 22's but not sure of the brand yet. I will probably stick to a traditional 5 spoke design since i like it best.

Hamann's project cars on their website show their 20's thru 23's all lowered. So any size will work.

Great. I'm also waiting til Spring/Summer to upgrade to larger wheels. I currently have 19" OEM. Will use those for winter. When do you think you'll be installing the Hamann links? Do you know how much it costs and where to buy them? Thx

Im getting all my Hamann stuff from RoverActive. They have good prices. Hamann stuff is somewhat pricier that other brands, but I like their products for the 6 better than the other tuners. Im slowly turning my 6 into a Hamann project car. The springs cost about $750 if im not mistaken. Ive already ordered the 3 piece apron that install over the existing bumper. waiting on the M bumper. (looks great, very agressive) Already ordered hood, trunk and steering wheel emblems. Already installed pedals. And waiting on the exhaust with the mid pipe. (no resonators on the mid pipe)

Only non Hamann accessory that I'm waiting on is Lumma eyelids and their subtle rear lip spoiler. Smallest I've seen. Similar to the M3. Ill be posting pics as it progresses.

Did those wheels come stock? What style and size are they? They look like Style 336.
